Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. In 1992, she was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform in addition to the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
